Important update for entrepreneurs: changes in SBI codes

Did you know that the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK) updated many SBI codes in early September 2025?These codes describe your company’s activities and are linked to the activity description in the Trade Register.

Between 5 and 7 September 2025, the KVK automatically replaced existing SBI codes for many businesses with one or more new ones, based on the activity description provided.

What should you do?

• Check in Mijn KVK whether your activity description and SBI code(s) are still correct.

• Log in using DigiD.

• Update your activity description if it is no longer accurate.

• You may also submit your own proposal for a more suitable SBI code.

It is important to ensure that your SBI code is correct, as it may affect permits, subsidies, insurance, and financing opportunities.
